Define BSR

British social realism is a genre which has been created in Britain and is about the struggles of the underclass life. This genre usually indicates what goes on with people's life's. this is usually set in gritty, urban areas. British social realism has developed over the years as it can be seen in the table below. The more recent BSR films contain more sexual abuse, swearing, slang. However the old films had this too but wasn't as common. The storylines differ as well. My favourite one we watched was Nil By mouth it was a very good scene and showed the main themes in BSR films which were violence, domestic abuse, crime.
