You have been approached by Film 4 to make a new British Social Realist film aimed at British 16-24 year olds. To give Film 4 an idea of how your film will develop they have asked you to produce the first two minutes of the film, providing a clear sense of the graphical, editing and musical style your film will use. To protect Film 4’s reputation as a leader in British cinema the film must conform to the conventions of the Social Realist genre, and meet all audience expectations for this type of film. Finally, to keep costs low, all visual and audio material used in the film must be entirely original, with the exception of stock sound effects.
I believe my opening sequence did meet the brief. As the main actress is portrayed to be sixteen year old and the brief had stated to target our work towards 16-24 year olds. We had explored many themes within our work which was usual of the BSR genre. Such as corruption of youth, domestic abuse and aspiration. this would be relatable to our target audience as teenager pregnancy is widely dispersed and is a universal issue. Another way this could be relatable to our target audience is corruption of youth. Many teenagers do smoke and drink alcohol considering that they are not allowed too. This is similar of a BSR genre as the same themes has been explored in Fishtank.

Our title was 'CORNERED' this can have several connotations. such as the title could mean someone is being cornered on the street. This could also mean someone being trapped and trying to get free but her problems are corning upon her.
In our opening sequence the main girl is shown to be on her phone talking to someone about her being pregnant. She hangs up aggressively and chucks her pregnancy stick and soon begins too put makeup on. she leaves the bedroom and goes to the kitchen. she picks up cigarettes and a baracdi bottle then leaves the house. She is on the phone to her friend and her friend cancels on her. She is very angry and pushes and threatens girl. Later on she is shown in the park drinking and smoking. She leaves the park and makes the journey towards her house. The new shot is of her waking up and finding the pregnancy stick. Tears are rolling down her face and her mum is being verbally abusive towards her and the opening sequence ends here.
